Asce
Networks Announces Industry’s Most Sophisticated VPN Client
18th, September 2002
OmniRange Plus High Availability Firewall and
VPN Extends Secure Anywhere Connectivity
GAITHERSBURG, MD. September 18th,2002
- Asce Networks, Inc., a leading provider of mission-critical e-Business
infrastructures, today announced the industry's most sophisticated
VPN client software, the OmniRange Plus VPN Client Release 2. The
new client addresses the need for location-independent, secure connectivity,
while simultaneously protecting the remote device.
Conventional VPN clients enable encrypted communications
between a laptop or other remote device and the corporate network.
But often the system itself is unprotected and vulnerable to attack,
which in turn exposes the corporate network as well. The option
has been to add a personal firewall at additional costs, and at
added complexity. Since personal firewalls are often not location-aware,
they drop traffic that they shouldn't, or create additional complexity
for the user and administrator. Newer connection technologies, such
as xDSL, wireless LANs and cable modems increase the security risks,
as telecommuters remain connected for longer periods of time.
The OmniRange Plus VPN Client for version 2.0 of Asce
Networks' OmniRange Plus High Availability Firewall and VPN solution
offers a revolutionary new combination of a VPN client that supports
the latest encryption and authentication methods with a location-aware
active traffic filter to protect the remote device. The active traffic
filter can automatically or manually configure the proper security
policy for the current location, whether the computer is connected
to a corporate intranet, or the public Internet. Because the traffic
control is built-in, and automatic, the client reduces the complexity
and installation hassles of managing multiple software products.
The traffic filter also uses advanced, stateful TCP and UDP inspection,
supporting active FTP, for example.
"Enterprises have often sought comprehensive security
packages," said Bob Collins, CEO of Asce Networks ,Inc. "With
the new OmniRange Plus VPN client, Asce Networks takes the robust
security and high availability package of its firewall and VPN solution
to a new level, giving our customers an easy-to-use, remote security
and connectivity solution."
In addition to providing a comprehensive security package,
the VPN client also supports the latest wireless authentication
schemes with a mobile phone, where no additional token or smart
card is needed. The OmniRange Plus appliance also supports certificate-based
and extended authentication systems, and is RSA SecurID Ready.
