Climax950
Asce
Networks' Climax950 Access Switch delivers an all-in-one convergent
solution for regional and central site enterprise networks. As a
multiservice access concentrator, the Climax950 converges data,
voice and video over a choice of services including ATM, Frame Relay,
IP and ISDN.
Unparalleled
Flexibility
Asce Networks' high performance Climax950 is the industry's first
convergent platform that integrates data, voice and video over any
of today's WAN technologies (Frame Relay, IP, ISDN, X.25) and voice
technologies to a T1/E1 ATM service for both public and private
network environments. It also supports a wide range of user devices
and protocols which converge over common infrastructures.
Unmatched
Adaptability/Scalability
Featuring a state of the art processor, the Climax950 delivers superior
performance and throughput for today's growing networking applications.
It offers enhanced scalability with an 8-slot chassis for a wide
choice of interface modules which support a multitude of applications.
By simply inserting the corresponding module, the Climax950 can
be easily configured to support various applications, including
- LAN applications from a choice of Token Ring and Ethernet Modules;
legacy protocols from various serial modules, and voice compression
applications from analog and digital voice modules. A range of optional
56/64Kbps, T1/E1 CSU/DSU, ISDN (PRI, BRI) and V.34 dial-back-up
modules. Its ease of upgradeability allows enterprise networks to
easily adapt the Climax950 Access Switch to new applications over
a choice of ATM, Frame Relay, IP and ISDN services.
Migration
Path
The Climax950 Access Switch offers a unique common platform for
seamless interoperability between Frame Relay and ATM networks for
enterprise solutions requiring additional bandwidth and performance.
With the Climax950's ATM-ready architecture, migration from frame-based
to cell-based networks is achieved by adding the ATM T1/E1 module
and a simple configuration change. This allows customers to design
convergent networks without being constrained by existing or emerging
technologies. Enterprise networks can install the Climax950 over
private or public networks, mixing different types of traffic over
a common network.
Reduced Cost
of Ownership
The advanced convergence features of the Climax950 allows customers
to easily adapt to new emerging technologies while protecting their
initial investment. Enterprise networks can converge data, voice
and video over Frame Relay today and, as requirements grow or change,
can migrate these same applications over ATM or IP services. With
such a broad range of available interface modules, customers are
guaranteed upgradeability to new user applications.
Voice over
Packet
Enterprise networks can reduce recurring network costs by employing
the Climax950 to integrate voice communications over an existing
data infrastructure. With support for VoATM, VoFR and VoIP, the
Climax950 offers enterprise networks a choice of technologies that
deliver networking, cost and performance benefits. Asce Networks'
unique voice architecture enables true any to any gatewaying of
packet or PSTN voice services. The Climax950 reduces, or even eliminates,
long distance toll charges when voice calls are piggybacked onto
an existing data network.
Voice over
ATM
ATM transport service differs from Frame Relay and IP, as it is
the only service to have inherent classes of service to support
different types of traffic. ATM is regarded today as a true convergent
solution for integrating data, voice and video, and the Climax950
allows compressed voice to be encapsulated in cell format to a public
or private ATM network. Convergence over ATM services allows enterprise
networks to reduce their recurring network costs while benefiting
from the efficiency and performance of ATM.
Voice over
Frame Relay
Frame Relay is recognized for its capacity to converge data, voice
and video at a lower speed access. The Climax950 employs a compressed
voice algorithm to maximize an enterprise network's available bandwidth
on a Frame Relay network. It can also reduce costs by eliminating
parallel infrastructures when it interconnects PBXs with existing
data applications.
Voice over
IP
IP has emerged as the latest convergence protocol for data, voice
and video. Many enterprise networks are looking at IP services to
combine their intra-office voice communications with regular LAN
traffic or to enable integration of IP based PBXs with public facilities.
The Climax950 gateway functionality allows PBXs with existing analog
or digital voice interfaces to communicate over a managed IP backbone.
Easy to Manage
The Climax950 is configured using Asce Networks' new CXTool, a Windows-based
configuration tool specifically designed for Asce Networks' Climax
family of products. CXTool makes configuration easy. Simply point,
click and fill in the information. Monitoring is performed using
Asce Networks' CXView, a monitoring tool based on a client/server
architecture that allows network managers to view status information
on their Asce Networks-based network components from any location,
using a standard HTTP browser. The CXView can be easily integrated
within an NMS, such as HP OpenView.
