Multi-Layer Inspection

Omnirange Plus' Multi-Layer inspection technology combines the best aspects of both stateful inspection technology and application-level Proxy technology.
The cornerstone of Omnirange Plus is maximum security. It is based on Asce Networks's Multi-Layer Inspection; a technology that is based on the best aspects of stateful inspection and application-level proxy technologies. Multi-Layer Inspection provides security on several communication layers, including the application level.
Multi-Layer Inspection is a comprehensive security technology, which safely isolates the protected networks from insecure networks. System administrators define a security policy using specific rules that define what traffic is allowed to pass the OmniRange Plus. Only traffic, which has been explicitly allowed to pass the OmniRange Plus, may pass between the protected network and the insecure network.

Fully integrated firewall and Operating System

Omnirange Plus runs on a hardened embedded operating system. The operating system is included in the Omnirange Plus Appliance. Running a hardened operating system minimizes the threats caused by security loopholes in operating system configuration.

Straightforward Management System

Omnirange Plus has an effective enterprise management system. Firewall management is straightforward and less prone for human errors than management systems found in other market-leading firewalls. This reduces the possibility of security breaches due to misconfiguration.

Ultra-secure Multi-Path Virtual Network

Omnirange Plus uses multiple routes across the Internet for each VN tunnel. This makes eavesdropping more difficult, because an eavesdropper at one location can't see all traffic belonging to a VN tunnel.


Maximum Performance

Omnirange Plus has several advanced technologies, which provide industry-leading performance. The Multi-Layer Inspection technology itself provides high performance. In addition, the operating system in Omnirange Plus has been streamlined for high-performance use. The operating system supports advanced hardware features, e.g. multiprocessing. The engine also has advanced high-performance algorithms for filtering and packet handling.

Multi-Path Technology

Asce Networks' Multi-Path Technology enables connecting multiple ISP's to a single cluster. Omnirange Plus provides Load Balancing and Fault Tolerance for the connected ISP's, eliminating the single point of failure that connecting only to one ISP would result in. In case of VN's, Omnirange Plus also enables using leased lines in parallel to the Internet.
Outbound traffic always takes the shortest route to the destination. This is implemented by Asce Networks' Load Balanced Routing and it increases the network performance by always using the optimal route. Inbound traffic is shared between the connected ISP's by a DNS-based algorithm.
Omnirange Plus has Multi-Path VN's, that use all possible combinations of ISP's at the endpoints to create a fault tolerant VN tunnel with constant throughput level. Omnirange Plus monitors the availability and throughput of the ISP's to direct the traffic to the carriers with optimal throughput.
When more bandwidth to the Internet is needed, the only possibility has been to increase the bandwidth of the existing Internet connection on the price dictated by the ISP. Changing the ISP would result in the costly change of public IP addresses. Omnirange Plus enables increasing bandwidth incrementally by adding new Internet connections from multiple ISP's and operating them as a single virtual Internet connection.
Cluster NG Clustering
Cluster NG Clustering provides for Load Balancing and Fault Tolerance in the OmniRange Plus. In addition to Load Balancing and Fault Tolerance clustering offers scalability and enables online maintenance.
Omnirange Plus has dynamic Load Balancing between the nodes for maximized throughput. The Load Balancing is fully transparent to the end users. Omnirange Plus also has Fault Tolerance: if a node fails, the other nodes in the cluster automatically take over the tasks of the failed node without the end users noticing anything.
Clustering enables adding new nodes to a cluster on the fly to increase total performance. It also enables online maintenance: a node can be taken offline during normal business hours e.g. for hardware or software upgrade.

Omnirange Plus features a centralized, enterprise wide management system. It has powerful management tools that drastically reduce the administrative burden of the appliance.

The management system includes management of the operating system on the appliance. All features of the operating system are managed centrally from the management system and there is no need to operate the appliance themselves after the initial setup.
The management system of Omnirange Plus provides a powerful set of management tools to enable administrators to do their daily work efficiently, e.g. rule base templates, inheritance, sub rule bases, multiple administrator levels, extensive log filtering and pruning tools and the possibility of managing appliance simultaneously from multiple management GUI's.
The management system has a lot of automated features, which reduce the administrative burden and possibility of human errors in appliance management. E.g. anti-spoofing rules are generated automatically and thus anti-spoofing is always active.

Integrated Solution

Omnirange Plus replaces many third party deviced for similar functionality. A network without Omnirange Plus requires an additional Multi-ISP solution for having multiple ISP's, an additional high availability solution for the appliance to make the appliance fault tolerant and an additional server load balancing solution for load balancing web servers. All of these solutions need to be in a redundant setup to avoid them being a single point of failure.

Because Omnirange Plus incorporates ISP load balancing, firewall load balancing and server load balancing, it results in a cheaper purchase price, a reduced maintenance effort, and lower support and maintenance fees. It also reduces the rack space needed.
